Stamps to go on sale for the 10th Anniversary of Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Foundation, the Monaco’s Stamp Issuing Office issued new stamps for sale since June 30th, 2016
The bearded vulture in Corsica ? summary of the current situation
This year the bearded vulture population in Corsica has further decreased to 4 breeding pairs (one less than last year), while there are 2-3 floating adults around.
Two of these pairs laid eggs – in one case, the egg was removed by a team from the Parc Naturel Regional de Corse and the VCF, for the captive breeding programme, while the second pair successfully fledged a young.
SWISS PIONEERS BERTRAND PICCARD AND ANDRE BORSCHBERG COMPLETE THE FIRST EVER ROUND-THE-WORLD SOLAR FLIGHT - A HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT WITHOUT A DROP OF FUEL
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 26 July 2016 - Taking turns at the controls of Solar Impulse 2 (Si2) - their zero-emission electric and solar airplane, capable of flying day and night without fuel - Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg succeeded in their crazy dream of achieving the first ever Round-The-World Solar Flight. By landing back in Abu Dhabi after a total of 23 days of flight and 43'041 km travelled in a 17 leg journey, Si2 has proven that clean technologies can achieve the impossible. Beyond this historic milestone, the two Swiss pioneers will continue to urge the global implementation of energy efficient solutions through the creation of the International Committee for Clean Technologies and leverage the expertise and technology gained over the years in Solar Impulse by launching new innovative projects, such as the development of solar powered drones.
Signing of a partnership agreement between the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and Corporación municipal de Isla de Pascua
Following Our Ocean conference in Valparaiso, Chile, on October 5th and 6th 2015 – where H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco met the representatives of the Easter Islands - and the tour of the island on October 7th and 8th 2015, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation represented H.E. Bernard Fautrier and the environment adviser of the Municipality of Easter Island Mrs Ana Maria Gutierrez, signed a partnership agreement on June 29th 2016 at the headquarter of the Foundation.
A new exhibition on endangered species opens in Beijing
“Gone within a blink” is the highly symbolic slogan of an exhibition on endangered animal species that opened on Tuesday in Beijing. The exhibition – organised jointly by the Embassy of Monaco in China, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and WWF, and supported by Park View Green, the Monaco-China Cooperation Association and Beihang University – is hosted at the Salon Monaco in Beijing and will run until 29 July.

HISTORIC FIRST - COMING FROM NEW YORK, SOLAR IMPULSE LANDS IN SPAIN AFTER THE FIRST EVER SOLAR, ELECTRIC AND ZERO-EMISSION CROSSING OF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN
Seville, Spain, 23 June 2016 – On its journey around the world, Solar Impulse 2 (Si2) – the solar airplane of Swiss pioneers Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg – landed in Seville, Spain, after a flight of three days and three nights (71 hours and 8 minutes) without fuel, completing the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean with several world records. The transatlantic flight covered a distance of 6'765 km (4'203 miles) powered only by the sun, confirming Solar Impulse’s vision that clean technologies and renewable energy can achieve the impossible.
Solar Impulse 2 takes off from New York to attempt the first electric, solar and zero-emission transatlantic flight
New York City, 20 June 2016 – Solar Impulse 2 (Si2) took off early this morning from Kennedy Airport, New York, to attempt the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean and prove that an efficient energy future is possible. Si2, the solar airplane of Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg, capable of flying day and night with no fuel, is expected to land at the Seville Airport in Spain on 23 June. The flight, that should take four days and four nights non-stop depending on weather conditions, is one of the most challenging legs of the Round-The-World Solar Flight, the goal of which is to show that the world can be run on clean technologies.
Cambodia’s first large-scale marine protected area declared for Koh Rong Archipelago
Cambodia’s first Marine Fisheries Management Area (MFMA) has been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in the waters of the Koh Rong Archipelago.
Yesterday, 16 June 2016, Cambodia reached a landmark for marine conservation when the Minister of MAFF signed a prakas1 declaring a 405 km2 Marine Fisheries Management Area (MFMA) around the islands of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem, creating the country’s first large-scale marine protection.
World Oceans Day
On the World Oceans Day, Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the French Global Environment Fund (FFEM) and Tara Expeditions organised at the Domaine du Rayol, a botanical garden in the south of France, a scientific conference on “The role of marine and coastal ecosystems in climate regulation”.
