HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco awards the 2015 Prince’s Prize for Innovative Philanthropy to Amitabh Shah of YUVA Unstoppable
The 2015 Prince's Prize for Innovative Philanthropy has been awarded today at the Yacht Club de Monaco to Amitabh Shah of YUVA Unstoppable. YUVA Unstoppable is an Indian non-profit organisation that aims to inspire kindness amongst the youth by encouraging them to volunteer for two hours a week. YUVA volunteers and its partner corporations improve school infrastructure, spread digital literacy, and create traffic awareness and cleanliness campaigns across the country. In the last nine years, they have mobilised over 100,000 young people across 30 cities, benefitting more than 240,000 people.

Within the scope of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince’s participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation organised a lunch-debate focused on ocean preservation, moderated by Enric Sala, an explorer working for National Geographic. The Foundation, aware that the future of the oceans is one of the greatest challenges of our times, both economically and environmentally speaking, has made this issue one of its major concerns.

2nd meeting of the Ocean Acidifcation international Reference User Group (OAiRUG)
This week has been marked by two major international cooperation events towards promoting global actions on ocean acidification. After a fruitful workshop on the socio-economic dimension of OA with a special emphasis on coastal ecosystems and communities, with relevant conclusions drawn and recommendations made in the presence and with the active engagement of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, it is the time for the 2nd meeting of the OA international Reference User Group (OAiRUG) to set the stage for the development of an OA forecasting system that would help society prepare for and anticipate global ocean changes.

Après deux jours et demi d’intenses discussions, les conclusions du troisième atelier sur l’économie de l’acidification des océans se sont tenues mercredi 14 janvier au Musée océanographique. Comme les précédentes éditions, cet atelier a bénéficié du support financier de la Fondation Prince Albert II, du Gouvernement monégasque, du Ministère français de l’écologie, du développement durable et de l’énergie, du département d’État des États-Unis, du Musée océanographique de Monaco, de l’IUCN et de la société monégasque des eaux.
