SOLAR IMPULSE LANDS IN THE SILICON VALLEY COMPLETING THE CROSSING OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN WITH SEVERAL WORLD RECORDS
Mountain View, 24 April 2016 – Solar Impulse 2 (Si2) – the first solar airplane capable of flying day and night without using a drop of fuel – left Hawaii on 21 April at 6:15 am local time (UTC-10) and landed at the Moffett Airfield on 23 April at 11:44 pm local time (UTC-7), completing the crossing of the Pacific Ocean with several world records. By attempting the first solar flight around the world, pushing back the boundaries of the possible, and taking on a project deemed impossible by industry experts, Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg want to support concrete actions for sustainability and show that the world can be run on clean technologies.
Paris ePrix: a racing challenge and the promotion of renewable energies in pole position
On Saturday 23rd April, Paris hosted the 7th race of the International Automobile Federation’s (FIA) “Formula E” championship» dedicated to 100% electric racing cars, of which the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has been an official partner since it was first launched in September 2014.
SOLAR IMPULSE TAKES OFF TO ATTEMPT THE COMPLETION OF THE PACIFIC CROSSING
HAWAII, Kalaeloa, 21 April 2016 – In silence, without using a drop of fuel, but with much wonder in the eyes of hundreds of enchanted supporters, Solar Impulse 2 (Si2) took off early this morning at 5am Hawaii time (UTC-10) to complete the crossing of the Pacific. Si2, the solar airplane of Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg, capable of flying day and night powered only by the energy of the sun, will be airborne during Earth Day – a powerful symbol, and is expected to land at the Moffett Airfield in Mountain View, California, on 23 April. The flight, that should take three days depending on weather conditions, will be another challenging leg of the Round-The-World Solar Flight.
Opening of the Spanish Branch in Madrid on 22nd April
Madrid, 22nd April 2016: The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is extending its message and mission internationally with the creation of its Spanish branch. The Foundation currently has representations in France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Singapore.

After the Vistamar at the Hotel Hermitage, a new establishment within the Monte Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, Les Thermes Marin Monte-Carlo has committed alongside the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation to promoting the responsible consumption of seafood products in its restaurant L'Hirondelle, now a partner of the Mr Goodfish programme.
The programme to reintroduce the bearded vulture
The programme to reintroduce the bearded vulture to the Alps began in 1989: the Parco Naturale Alpi Marittime and the Parc National du Mercantour have been working jointly on this project since 1993 and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation joined them in 2007.
The IPCC decides to produce a Special Report on the Ocean
The Intergovernmental Group on Climate Change (IPCC), the 43rd working session of which concluded on April 13th, 2016 in Nairobi, has approved the establishment of three Special Reports (1), one of which will be focused on interactions between the climate, ocean and cryosphere.
SOLAR IMPULSE READY TO RESUME FIRST ROUND-THE-WORLD SOLAR FLIGHT FROM HAWAII
HAWAII, Kalaeloa, 14 April 2016 – Swiss pioneers Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg are ready to resume their attempt to achieve the first ever Round-The-World Solar Flight with Solar Impulse 2 (Si2) – the first solar airplane capable of flying day and night without using a drop of fuel. After replacing overheated batteries and running maintenance flights, the team is now re-entering “mission mode”, and as of tomorrow, will identify the first favorable window for Bertrand Piccard to fly toward North America, despite the current difficult weather conditions. The goal of this entire endeavor is to demonstrate how modern clean technologies can achieve the impossible.

Fairbanks 16 March 2016 (WCRP) The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation have launched a new Polar Challenge to develop an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) capable of a 2 000 km mission under the sea-ice in the Arctic or Antarctic.
